Fantastic turnout makes our second annual microcar rally and road run a big success!

Over 60 rally goers attended our 2nd annual rally at The Bubblecar Museum last weekend with a wide variety of microcars, bubblecars and scooters. 24 vehicles ventured out on our runs through Lincolnshire too, with many intrepid participants following our map and getting to the destinations! The weather for the rally was glorious and Saturday’s entertainment, the Drowning Fish Band, went down a storm and really helped with the overstock of cider!

You can view a video of the rally and run setting off from the museum here.

The weekend saw many interesting cars in the rally field, including Chris and Victoria Hunt’s yellow Fiat 126, Phil Tetley’s Berkeley T60 sports and Ray and Jenny Dilks superb Frisky. The Frisky & Berkeley also took part in the road runs.

On the Sunday a cavalcade of microcars and scooters travelled to Boston and posed in the historic market place before moving on to an open garden day at Frog Hall Cottage, where funds were donated to the British Red Cross.
Back at the rally field prizes were given after a democratic vote for best car, best scooter and furthest travelled:

Best car
Grenville & Joyce Taylor’s pretty 1962 Autobianchi Saloon. A car in spectacular condition – owned by a man who is systematically polishing the underneath of his campervan!!

Furthest travelled
Rory Lynas’ immaculate 1973 Bond Bug arrived from the West Midlands with a matching tent! Travel is no stranger to Rory, who
has piloted Bond bugs to Norway and Malta. Thanks for making the effort Rory.

A big thank you to all who attended.
Next years rally will be on May 24 to 26 – we have two entrants booked already!
Details to follow on this and about our Christmas Rally too.
